LADY OF THE LAKE: Dream Myth Mini-Retreats (four nights)
Cynghordy, Nr. Myddfai, Wales
Book now: 22sarahjanes22@gmail.com
Dates: NOVEMBER 7 - 11 and JANUARY 9 - 13
I've booked the most positively dreamy and cozy place for two four-night deep dream myth mini-retreats in the heart of Wales!
This retreat will explore the mythologies and mysteries that surround the figure of the Lady of the Lake, and the local physicians of Myddfai.
We will be working with myth, writing and painting, we will be drinking the mythic spring of the legendary healers of ancient Cymru and dreaming with the land.
One of the best things about our cottage is that you can take the amazing Heart of Wales railway line - one of the most scenic lines in all of Europe! I always think trains are the best way to travel in dreaming. The train stop is Cynghordy - means "House of Meeting" in Welsh.

This is also a nice opportunity to have a proper digital detox, which I am 100% encouraging, part of my decision to choose this particular part of Wales! Phone reception and wifi is often blocked by the rugged landscape and this will really help to deepen presence thorugh waking life and dreaming.
Cost includes: Private accommodation, all food - local and wholesome produce - we will make our meals together, a dream incubation kit (includes herbal tea, Lady of the Lake dream incubation guided audio journey and a weighted herbal eyemask).
Cost: £580 - £450 for previous retreat attendees

DREAMUSEUM: A Guided Dream Journey Around The British Museum
Friday November 15th 2024
British Museum
11am - 4pm
DREAM INCUBATION KIT
All ticket holders will also receive a link to Auset: Queen of Dreams a hypnagogic dream incubation audio track and a dream incubation practice kit which includes a handmade herbal weighted eye mask and my aphrodisiac lucid dream tea (Afroditea) made from herbs from my perfumed dream garden in Epidavros, Greece. Aphrodisiac herbs are excellent for lucid dreaming, they create a peaceful, pleasurable bodily state - this invites pleasant dreams, often with hints of love and eroticism, which in turn encourage more vivid dream scenes, lucidity and therefore better recall. Lucid dreams do not evaporate upon waking.

Join me at 11am (bottom of the stairs in the Great Court) for six hours exploring all things dream-related at the British Museum. Bring a packed lunch and sketch book - make new dream pals and come and honour the gods and goddesses of sacred sleep.
I have spent a couple of decades exploring, recording and regularly visiting the various artifacts, statues, scrolls, spells and charms held by the British Museum that relate to the dreamworld as well as interview many ancient history specialists, Egyptologists, Assyriologists, religious studies researchers and cultural historians, academics, scholars and practictioners. I have written about much of this in my book - Initiation into Dream Mysteries: Drinking from the Pool of Mnemosyne
This tour will introduce you to as many of them as possible.

NEXT DREAM RETREATS

DREAM MYSTERIES OF AUSET
NEW HERMOPOLIS, EGYPT
12 - 18 APRIL 2025
Join me for a unique dream retreat in Egypt at the Hermetic oasis of the visionary Egyptian philosopher, Egyptology researcher and psychiatrist Mervat Nasser - New Hermopolis!
Mervat and I have been planning this collaboration for five years and finally it is happening!
I will also be joined on the retreat by sound alchemist Maria Christofi.
Mervat Nasser (MD, MPhil, FRCPsych) purchased a section of desert in Minya about 20 years ago and over time has succeeded in turning it into a flourishing oasis filled with plants, birds, trees and wisdom seekers.
Mervat has reintroduced many threatened native species including the sycamore fig sacred to Hathor, she's planted an olive grove and developed a biodynamic farm and kitchen.
New Hermopolis sits just back from the banks of the Nile - opposite Akhetaten - city of Akhenaten.
New Hermopolis is actually within the boundary of the ancient footprint of the city of Hermopolis - the city where Thoth and the Ogdoad created the world and where writing and the word were born!
Each room at New Hermopolis is a perfect dream chamber, constructed from high quality limestone quarried - from the very same source as the casing stones used for the great pyramid on the Giza plateau.
Auset is the ancient Egyptian name for the goddess Isis. Auset means throne in the ancient Egyptian language and she represents the primordial seat of kingship in ancient Kemet. She is creatrix of a sacred landscape. Upon her lap all pharaohs are nourished, they become divine.
Auset is Queen of Heaven, Giver of Life and Great of Magic. She has a special relationship with the medu netjer (god's words)/what the Hellenes called the hieroglyphs (sacred carvings) and her speech, her words, have magical powers. Her spoken words are a cure, they are dreamspells and enchantments. Alongside magical images of her son Horus subduing the wild beasts, Auset's Words of Power are carved into the Horus cippus - a type of stelae that was used in the treatment of patients in ancient sanctuaries of healing.
In the Greco-Egyptian pantheon Auset/Isis and Serapis became associated with miraculous dream cures and they were syncretized with Asklepios and Hygieia at the holistic healing sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidavros. It is believed the Mysteries of Isis in the Greco-Roman period were inspired by the Mysteries of Eleusis and that the rites were performed in the Sanctuary of the Egyptian Gods at Epidavros. The rites for both these Mysteries were designed to improve the soul, and divine dreams were a well-attested way to have contact with the goddesses and gods - it was through such direct theurgic experiences that the soul's 'perfection' was achieved.
This retreat will focus on Auset's as a goddess of rebirth, regeneration, possessor of the Words of Power, magical healer, and as a goddess who appears in dream epiphanies. We will recreate the Mysteries of Auset and call her to our dreams.
